PICART A REIMS
France, circa 1770
Large French Louis XV period bracket clock, painted wood and gilt bronze. Beautiful, finely cut gilt brass hands, enamel dial with Roman numerals, signed to the centre “Picart a Reims”. Reims is the city where kings of France were crowned. Louis the XVth was crowned there in 1722. it is located 130 km east of Paris in the famous French Champagne region.
Movement: Rectangular twin barrel brass movement, silk suspension, verge escapement, countwheel striking the hour and half hour on a bell.
