E. HUGUENIN SWISS COMPTOIR REGULATOR

Switzerland, circa 1860

Rare Swiss regulator made by Emile Huguenin clockmaker in Les Ponts-de-Martel (a town in the well known Watch Valley near Neuchatel, La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle, cities that are home to several of today’s famous watch brand factories). This particular regulator appears in the reference book on Neuchâtel watchmaking by Alfred Chapuis “La pendulerie neuchâteloise” Fig.278. Page 359.

The case is made of walnut with glazed front doors, enamel flat dial, gilded engraved bezel, radial Roman numerals hours, sweep second, blued steel Breguet hands. Movement: Weight driven, steel frame, two steel pillar plates, Graham escapement, heavy pendulum made in the manner of a gridiron, temperature-compensated pendulum.
