Magnificent and very rich Neuchatel chiming clock Louis XVI.

  • Date: around 1760
    Height overall: 51.96 inches / 132cm
    Bracket width: 19.68 inches / 50 cm
    Bracket depth: 9.84 inches / 26 cm

  • Beautiful polychrome floral decoration on a beige background (ancient restoration, perfectly performed), elegant chiseled bronzes, in perfect condition dish-shaped dial with roman numerals for the chapters and large arabic numerals on the five minute marks.

  • Beautiful, perfectly conserved and finely carved gilded brass hands. Extremely neat original movement with verge escapement. Striking the hours and the half hours on a bell, count-wheel strike.
  • Chiming mechanism with 9 melodies and 13 bells. Like it commonly is with this kind of chiming clocks, the played melodies are not quite recognizable but are pleasant and very attractive. Automatic release of the melody before the striking of the hour. Manual release function, selectable on and off position for the automatic melody switch, melody switchable manually, stop function, soft play function.

CONDITION :

This sumptuous Neuchatel clock from mid 18th century is in excellent condition. The ancient restorations of the case have been perfectly performed.

The chime and the clock mechanism have been very carefully restored.

The signature of this famous clock maker is much sought-after and very rare. It attests also the remarkable quality of this object of collection.
